At Ablan Chocolatier, palm oil, palm kernel oil, and their fractions are used in very limited amounts, and only in select chocolate fillings where they are essential for achieving the right texture, melting properties, and neutral flavor.
We source our chocolate from a trusted global supplier and, as a result, Ablan accounts for less than 0.01% of the world’s total palm oil consumption. While palm oil has its functional benefits, we are fully aware of the environmental and social concerns linked to unsustainable palm oil production — such as deforestation, biodiversity loss, and negative impacts on local communities and Indigenous Peoples.
However, palm oil can be a sustainable and efficient crop when cultivated responsibly. Compared to other vegetable oils like soybean, sunflower, or rapeseed, palm oil requires significantly less land to produce the same volume — making it one of the most land-efficient oil crops globally. Simply replacing it with other oils could lead to even greater pressure on the world’s forests and ecosystems.
For these reasons, Ablan is committed to supporting responsible palm oil production. We only use palm oil that is certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), ensuring that it meets rigorous environmental and ethical standards. In Europe, this means RSPO’s Segregated traceability level, and in the U.S., a combination of Segregated and Mass Balance standards.
We are also fully transparent: all palm oil usage is clearly labeled on our product packaging, so you can make informed choices with confidence.
